The
Centre national de littérature (CNL) is primarily a centre
for scholarly research on Luxembourg's literature. Its library and
archives are open to researchers and the general public alike.
Since 1986 the National archives in Luxembourg-City had been compiling
material which documents the literature and authors of Luxembourg
(Luxembourgiana) for the newly-created institute. In 1995 the CNL
was finally able to welcome the first visitors on its very own premises
in the Servais Mansion in Mersch.
