Scolarly Mission
|
 |
 |
The CNL aims to assemble, at a single location, all testimonies
of Luxembourg's literature after 1815 (manuscripts, printed material,
iconographical documents) as well as documents which provide a wider
understanding of the history of this literature and the various
influences that helped to shape it. The centre ensures the preservation
and ready access to this material for all who need it.
As Luxembourg takes pride in its citizens' multilingualism,
the CNL's literary documents naturally reflect the nation's three
languages: Luxembourgish, French and German.
The CNL constantly reinforces its international
ties and collaborates closely with other libraries and archives
(e.g. Archives et Musée de la littérature in Brussels,
Deutsches Literaturarchiv
in Marbach am Neckar
).
The preservation of the Luxembourgiana from loss
or oblivion, its conservation for future generations and its availability
for scholarly research are among the CNL's primordial goals.

Socio-cultural Mission
|
 |
 |
The CNL considers itself a place of public get-together for all
those who love literature.
Our premises provide numerous possibilities for public gatherings
(Salle Tony Bourg, Literary Cellar, Café and park). They
also lend themselves to conferences, lectures, theatre and cabaret
performances, movie and slide projections, guided tours and exhibitions.
Furthermore,
the CNL has published a certain number of literary and bibliographical
works in order to make Luxembourg's literature and its authors
known to a broader public - in Luxembourg, but also abroad.
Children,
students, adults, specialists and non-specialists of Luxembourg
literature are all equally welcome at the CNL.
