Why a "Nei Lëtzebuerger Bibliothéik"?

Apart from modern publications, major works of former times undeniably constitute an important part of literary life.

With this thought in mind, the Centre national de littérature has published a new series of works by famous Luxembourg authors of the 19th and 20th centuries.

The series aims to fulfill several conditions:

- the works are edited by literary scholars: commentaries on the work, its genesis and the author's biography are an important (and often indispensable) tool for the reader's understanding

- the choice of works should necessarily reflect the trilingual reality of Luxembourg life and include all literary genres

- the edition should be large enough to remain on the market for some time and thus to document the history and continuity of Luxembourg literature

- the series should be affordable enough to incite even young readers to study the works of Luxembourg authors (especially in the context of the schools' reading programmes).
